About Hemp Foundation
Hemp Foundation is the emerging leader among the top hemp start-ups in India and is dedicated to educating people on the sustainability of hemp and its potential for making a positive impact on human lives and the environment. It realizes that India’s soil has practically infinite potential to support the cultivation of hemp.
The company differentiates itself by focusing on empowering farmers in Uttarakhand to cultivate high-quality organic hemp, by offering them technical expertise and economic resources.
Did you know?
Hemp can be bleached with hydrogen peroxide which is safe and natural, unlike other fabrics that are bleached using Chlorine.
Hemp produces 250% more fibre than cotton.
Hemp uses much less water. GMO cotton uses 5,000 gallons of water to produce 2 pounds of fabric—a T-shirt and a pair of jeans, for example–whereas hemp takes up merely 10% of that amount to produce the same amount of fabric.
Benefits of Hemp

Benefits
Benefits
- Hemp fabric is moth-resistant, quick-drying, and holds its shape well. Though difficult to bleach,
- Hemp can be dyed in a variety of dark and bright colours.
- It is breathable and durable and becomes softer through washing and wearing.
- Hemp is durable and does not require hand washing
- Hemp protects your skin by naturally filtering UV light.
- Hemp resists bacterial growth and breathes excellently, preventing odours.
- It saves water. Hemp uses only 1/20th the amount of water compared to regular cotton to grow and process.
- Unlike cotton, which depletes the soil of nutrients, hemp can be grown continuously for over twenty consecutive years without the soil being affected or damaged.
Fabric Care
Fabric care
- Washing: Wash cold unless the clothes are stained. Avoid setting wrinkles by removing them promptly from the washer. For stains, use detergent directly or pre-soak, and use warmer water
- Drying: You can hang dry or flat dry your garment, including using the dryer on low. Over-drying increases and sets wrinkles in hemp.
- Ironing: When you iron, use high heat. Test on the reverse side to prevent shine, especially on darker shades.
- Storing: Hemp is naturally mothproof and can be safely stored under normal conditions. Slatted shelves will allow air to circulate. Avoid drying cupboards that have heated pipes running through, or cedar-lined chests. Both can discolour hemp.
